Epworth Foundation

Epworth School is based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and is renowned for its world-class education of young hearts and minds for 120 years!

Former World Bank Chief Economist Lawrence Summers once famously stated, 'investment in girls' education may well be the highest return investment available in the developing world.'

The Epworth Foundation, Epworth School's social impact arm which focuses on bursary provision, upholds this belief strongly and has been committed, since 2016, to fundraise significantly in support of such investment.

Founded in 1898, Epworth was a pioneer of equal education in South African schools in the strife-torn 1970s. Today, the school focuses as committedly on BROADENING THE BASE OF ACCESS to its world-class educational offering by attracting donors who wish to support the growth of great women leaders for Africa's brighter tomorrow.

In a tight economy, the fledgling Epworth Foundation is proud to announce it raised a remarkable R1 million in revenue in 2018 and has now issued a first report, in celebration hereof. This assures that more talented and deserving Young Women of Worth can, and will, now receive a life-changing educational 'passport to possibility' through an Epworth high school education!

Uplift our nation through quality education.
A South Africa where deserving talent is identified and cultivated to serve our country and its people.
We need to engage with people who believe, as we do, that quality education is "the great engine of personal development" (Nelson Mandela) and is South Africa’s MAIN HOPE for a prosperous future.

If this resonates with YOU, we invite you to Join Us today and become a Friend of the Foundation ~ someone who makes someone else believe in a better tomorrow!
